Hell does exist and if you’re a bastard you’ll go there. That’s the message of the play in which Don Juan made his first appearance in early seventeenth century Spain . He thinks he can seduce and murder to his heart’s content but then he agrees to have supper with the statue of a man he has killed and all the cheek and bravado in the world can’t save him from justice.
